I stopped walking... and started dance-walking.
Everything changed.
The Beginning
It started with a pandemic puppy—a champion sniffer who turned every walk into an agonizingly slow exploration of every bush, stick, and blade of grass. Sniff, sniff, pause. Sniff, sniff, longer pause. I'd stand there, tethered to this furry detective, watching my "exercise" time tick away in the most boring way possible.
Then one day, music playing through my headphones, something shifted. Maybe it was the beat, maybe it was sheer desperation to feel alive again, but I started swaying. Just a little at first. Is anyone watching? I wondered. Maybe. Who cares...
That was six years ago. Today, my whole life is better. Way better, actually. I've lost 25 pounds without trying, my health has improved dramatically, and my entire outlook on life has transformed. I have fewer aches and pains, I reduced my daily stress, and the ideas that flow during my dance walks are nothing short of prolific.
Why am I sharing this?
I'm writing this because I hope a few readers out there will give it a try.
Nothing—and I mean nothing—has had a more profound positive impact on my life than turning my walk into a dance walk. If even a handful of people can incorporate this into their lives, I'll die (many, many years from now) an even happier person.
